Gorgeous painting and gorgeous poem. I love how your mother inhabits the poem without being mentioned. She was there and she's forever a part of you. In a way the presence of a mom is so integral to everything she doesn't even need a name drop, and that is beautiful. As always, love sitting with your work Alexandra and Brad.
A lovely read Alexandra. It is funny how certain works and places become entangled to become (often unexpectantly) markers in time. I too, love visiting those Thaulow paintings.
A wonderful memory. And a lovely poem to commemorate a special time. It's a blessing to have it still, and together with such a beautiful painting from Brad. I'm envious in a way. I have only my memory to rely upon, and there's always a tinge of darkness there. So, whether your mum shrank from the limelight or not, she's indelible in this moment.
Thank you so much, friend. It means so much that you spent time with this piece, and that you can feel my mom in it, too. And I’m so sorry for your loss. Memory can feel so fragile at times, but I think there’s a deeper layer to it—maybe our spirit remembers things even if our mind can’t? Sending you light <3
